If you live in the UK, you’ll most likely be familiar with English Heritage. Along with the National Trust, they’re one of the two well-known organisations that manage many of England’s historic sites and buildings. What you may not know is that the English Heritage website lets you search their sites by historical period. That’s great if you’re looking for somewhere to visit near home for a particular historical period.
Just use the search box on this page to choose the period you’re learning about, and off you go. (If the link breaks in future, this search is under the “Learn” area of the site).

Visits to most sites are free if you’re a member of English Heritage (it’s worth phoning to ask if you can have a discounted rate as a home educator). Otherwise, most sites have an entry cost.
